LESSON 2 - Expanding Your Network With Facebook

In New Coach training you learned all about the importance of starting to share your journey. For most of us, the most natural and easy place to start doing that is on Facebook. As you can see on the Revitalize tracker, there are four to-do's related to social media! (You could always accomplish some of those on the phone or in person too but most people use facebook because it's so much faster) So today we are going to talk today about the 5th item on your daily checklist, "RECONNECT WITH THREE PEOPLE"
What does this mean and why is it important?
Have you ever received a message from someone who wanted something from you and it was really evident? Like they sent you a message out of nowhere that is all about the thing they are selling or the fundraiser they are doing and blah blah blah... and the message comes after you haven't spoken to them in YEARS? Odds are, that message doesn't get much of your attention because it doesn't feel like that person cares.
We are in the business of genuinely caring about others. And a great way to be able to connect and have the opportunity for people to hear and see your story of coaching and health is to really connect with them so they *want* to know more about what's going on in your life.
Facebook makes this soooooo easy! But like most things in coaching, most new coaches overthink it and make it harder than it needs to be.
What is the point of re-engaging?
First of all, it's fun! But from a business perspective, if you are sharing consistently on your facebook 3-5 times a day, making a highlight reel of inspiring content that shares your journey as a coach and your fitness journey, then you want as many eyes to see that as possible, right? Because when people see and get inspired by your journey they are excited and inspired themselves and they know to come to you for help!
**Even if you have 500 friends on Facebook, when you make a post, all 500 do not see it. Facebook's algorithm only shows your posts to the people who you connect with the most frequently. Which means those 100 friends from college that you never talk to but are still connected to online? They most likely have no idea what you are doing.**
So if you make a post and it falls flat, instead of feeling dejected and giving up (which a lot of new coaches do) REMEMBER that it is most likely because your Facebook affinity is low so not a lot of people are seeing what you post. This is SUPER common in new coaches because up until now you haven't used Facebook in this same way. But... we can change that easily!!!! And by doing a little bit (reconnecting with 3 a day) it will add up over time to a lot!
Look through these three graphics that help break it down! You assignment today is to use these tips to reconnect with 3 people!
Also... in one of your social media posts, use the tips in the red graphic on doing a post that will get engagement. Asking for advice, asking a question, etc. And post it!
**Remember.... this is not a 1 and done thing. To reap the benefits you need to do these behaviors consistently over time! Don't get negative or discouraged if you don't get 100 likes today on your post. You are setting the groundwork for a wonderful facebook community!!!
